Churches are at various places in their movement to equip families. The following four components illustrate ways the church can develop family ministry. You’ll need to decide what’s best for your church. Most churches start with church-based programs for children and youth. They are good, but you’ll likely want to explore ways that you can move from the basic components to more effective ways to engage parents. Remember the goal is to pass the faith from one generation to the next. The success of this task is determined by several factors including God’s grace, much prayer, and ministry effectiveness.
Each of these four areas will help you consider ways to incorporate parents more into the actual DNA of your ministry. If family ministry is your vision, then there are many ways to engage parents. You don’t have to do all of these at the same time, but they do need to appear in some way in your church programming.
