Parents need training. If we don’t reach the parents than the children ultimately suffer. Parents need help today and the Bible has a lot to say about relationships, emotions, and other issues that can help them as they work with their children.
Offer parent training experiences in the life of the church through a special training event, small groups, parenting library, websites and blogs, and one-on-one discipleship and counseling.
The small groups might be peer groups, mentoring groups, family-mentor groups, or age-specific groups. You might also offer marriage resources as an important parenting tool. Consider having vision moments from the pulpit or email newsletter to inform parents as to what is available and how you can strengthen what they are doing.
Your direct work with parents show that you care for families. Not all parents will participate but those who do will experience helpful discipleship.
